Ketzal’s Corridors

Ketzals Corridors
On the short list of upcoming eShop shoutouts Nintendo dispersed yesterday morning, Ketzal’s Corridors stuck out with the “Aztec-themed action-puzzle” label.

The shape-matching and multiplayer friendly title recieved an update today however, including a teaser video that sheds some light on the subject of sliding puzzle pieces through holes in the wall.

Nintendo hasn’t attached a date or price just yet, but you can catch the video and latest screens below.

On The 3DS Horizon

Upcoming 3DS eShop Releases
Ramping up the eShop offerings for 3DS owners has given players plenty of new addictions to chew on – I’m still grinding through Dillon’s Rolling Western over here. Of course, there’s also a fresh burden on Nintendo to keep delivering, and toward that end the publisher has pulled back the curtain on what 3DS owners can expect in the coming weeks.

Titles from the Sega Game Gear will be debuting on the 3DS as of March 15th, starting with Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble, Shinobi, and Dragon Crystal. Sega fans can also expect a demo for Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure, though not until April 19th.

As the title image of this post suggests, Punch-Out!! returns on March 8th, offering another chance to punch King Hippo in his bloated gut while fighting your way toward everyone’s favorite stand-in champion, Mr. Dream.

I’ll also suggest keeping an eye out for Zombie Slayer Diox, the rhythm action zombie slaying title hits the eShop on March 22nd.

Lollipop Chainsaw
Get those pom-poms out kids!

In our continuing coverage of all things Grasshopper today, the Game Developers Conference gave Warner Bros. opportunity to set a release date for the highschool zombie chainsaw massacre, Lollipop Chainsaw.

The game will be releasing for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 12th in North America, apparently two days ahead of a new Japanese release date of June 14th.

If you want a refresher on the game, you can catch the latest trailer here, and maybe it’s worth reminding you that preordering the game from different retailers nets different outfits for Juliet, which you can catch up on here.

Diabolical Pitch Strikes in April

Diabolical Pitch
Grasshopper Manufacture’s take on Kinect will hit Xbox LIVE Arcade on April 4th, according to Microsoft. Originally announced back in 2010, Diabolical Pitch puts players in the shoes of a former pitcher with a bionic arm, who when caught in a twisted amusement park of terrors quickly puts said pitching skills to work by striking down a plethora of evil creatures in a fantastically ridiculous fashion.

Diabolical Pitch also features a multiplayer mode, where players can apparently decide whether to help out a friend or betray them.

Trailer Park – Assassin’s Creed III

Assassins Creed 3 III
Having long left it to other members of Team Sugar to report back on Assassin’s and their Creeds, Ubisoft managed a rare surprise last week, proving that sometimes a single image can derail my skepticism about a series that was working hard at minor adjustments to feed annual releases.

Setting the next entry in the series against the American Revolutonary War finds me hungry for details, but more importantly, full of imaginative speculation regarding what the dramatic shift might offer players – I haven’t had this much fun speculating since dreaming of a next generation Star Wars BattleFront 3.

Ubisoft says the game will take players across the frontier, colonial towns, and include large scale battles between George Washington’s Continental Army and British soliders, and have served up a trailer to get the idea across.

The publisher has also announced that the game will release on October 30th, 2012.

Your Next Dose of Assassin’s Creed

Assassins Creed 3
Ubisoft has sent word that details on Assassin’s Creed III will be coming on Monday, March 5th, which would seem to leave very little to talk about here.

But the publisher also provided box covers for the next release in the series, featuring some imagery that should help settle exactly what time period the game takes place within – assuming the imagery of driving a hatchet into a British soldier while an American flag waves in the background doesn’t feel vague to you.

Considering gamers also have Bioshock Infinite to look forward to this year – specifically on October 19th – America seems like a potentially hot topic when it comes to gaming landscapes in 2012.

The Other Persona 2

Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
Happy as many of us were to see Persona 2: Innocent Sin finally release in North America with a PlayStation Portable revisit last year, I know a fair number of you were also dreaming of a more complete and portable Persona collection to call your own. On that note, Atlus has a teaser site up for the version of Persona 2 more familiar to original PlayStation owners in North America, Eternal Punishment. While the game is still in teaser mode in Japan with a new site, it’s really hard to imagine we won’t eventually be hearing plans to give the rest of us a chance to add the title to our Persona shrines here.

With Persona 4 hitting the Vita, and Arc System Work’s Persona arena fighting game releasing this year, 2012 is definitely aiming to overdose fans, which you can get a start on by catching Famitsu’s first screenshots for Eternal Punishment.
