Bits and bites of Epic Mickey are floating around this weekend thanks to Comic Con, including a peak at more of the 2D environments that look increasingly sweet enough to support a game sans the 3D painting focus.
As it turns out, the clip you can catch after the break offers up a taste of both styles, so see what you think – but I’d seriously pay to get it on with just a side-scrolling Mickey Mouse right now.
Every time I see a new video of Epic Mickey I put a little more into the pile of cash that will go into purchasing it at the end of the year. Still waiting for a great pre-order bonus from Disney.
this makes me think of an interesting point that hasn’t occurred to me before. I hate pre-orders. It’s the lamest and most inane practice that gamers engage in simply because it’s never necessary and it’s never worth the effort. With two major exceptions (the Wii and Modern Warware 2) 90% of pre-orders give you either a) nothing or b) something digital that either i) you could get anyway or ii) doesn’t really do anything special ‘oh .. gold plated guns’
Since a game being sold out of EVERY single retailer is so rare, and almost never happens 3 weeks in a row, the only reason to pre-order is if you get something tangible. Lately that’s becoming GiftCards but traditionally it’s stuff like soundtracks and artbooks.
I bring this up because it suddenly occurs to me that, with the lack of harddrive and frankly clumsy online, pre-order goodies on the Wii side are pretty much guaranteed to be good because there’s no way to give you lame digital lack-of-goodies.
The Conduit pre-order bonus was a 50/50 of what you said. You got 3 “special edition codes” which can be gotten from Gamefaqs and used in every single copy of the game but you also get a special holo foil cover AND an artbook so for me it was worth it to pre-order.
I only order from Amazon.com, so when I pre-order I offer no money up front, but I’m guaranteed the lowest price from when I pre-order and when it ships (or the day after it ships if that price is lower). I absolutely hate exclusive pre-order bonuses like from Gamestop and the such because I don’t like to shop at Gamestop, I’d rather they went out of business.
