E3 Video Bits – Conduit 2

Conduit 2
In addition to what Sega was showing at their booth, Aileen had a chance to attend a few closed door sessions, including High Voltage Software’s Conduit 2.

The sequel to the Wii shooter didn’t receive the same highlighting the first game did at Nintendo’s Press Conference last year, but HVS has plenty to say about how they approached this newest entry in the series based on the reception to the original, and how several new additions to the game make them confident that the title can satisfy gamers looking for a solid FPS on the Wii.

High Voltage was even accommodating enough to let Aileen record the session, so you can catch an early work-in-progress demo for the single-player portion of the title with Producer Joshua Olson, after the break.

Part 1 – Hear about how mixed reviews played a role in approaching the design of the sequel, optional Wii MotionPlus Controls, rankings and in-game currency, multiplayer customizations and the friends vs. rivals system, and how the change to headset support improves the original game’s Wii Speak setup.

Part 2 – Conduit 2’s single-player campaign, Wii controls, weapons and branching paths.

Part 3 – High Voltage gives an early look at Conduit 2’s boss fights by going one-on-one with Leviathan, and also points out why they feel they’ve set an audio benchmark on the Wii.

  2. Awesome coverage of this game. Now with everything I’ve seen I really want to get this and Goldeneye 007 instead of just getting one and waiting for the other to drop in price.

  3. The concept art looks really good, and I like how HVS chose for this game to make levels in various geographic locations. Something that the first game was criticized for, among a few more complaints.

  4. I got the original at launch and if they can fix some of the problems it had (the bugs in the multiplayer in particular) I’ll be sure to try part 2.

  5. The producer repeated many times that they focused on the criticisms from the first game to make part two much better. From what I saw, it doesn’t seem like he was lying, and this was still an early build!

  8. I’ll try this again, it’s not the final version of the game, it’s a working in progress copy letting High Voltage show how they’ve responded to concerns about the first title and tried to raise the bar.

  10. you are having a really bad idea, a good game need a lot of time, that is why games like half life 2 are beast, because they took a time to make the game awesome

  11. I have to admit… I am surprised they’re making a sequel to what I viewed as a generic sci-fi FPS. Also… is it just me or is it odd that this post has 10 times as many comments as any other? Conspiracy? Or is there that much demand for generic sci-fi FPS games on the Wii?

  12. It’s an FPS and we all know that usually draws out many a gamer that wouldn’t usually comment.
