Ivy is Coming

Ivy the Kiwi
XSEED Games has formally announced that they will be tossing a long enough vine to bring Prope Studio’s Ivy the Kiwi? to North America. Yuji Naka’s Lemmings-esk game has players stretching vines with either the DS stylus or WiiMote, guiding Ivy through 2D storybook stages in the search for her mother.

Namco already released the game in Japan for both the DS and Wii as well as DSiWare and WiiWare. Knowing XSEED’s habit of going the extra mile on the titles they bring over, it’ll be interesting to see what they have in store for Ivy.

If you need a refresher on the game you can find it here.

Interesting, gameplay looks similar to Kirby’s Canvas Curse, which I’m surprised hasn’t been used since.

Now all we need is a release date (maybe September 2010) and a price point ($19.99-29.99 seems about right) for the game.

How come it was release both at retail and on the download services? Was the version on DSiware and Wiiware made up of less levels?

Actually xseed has only announced the game for DS and Wii, so there’s no word yet on whether they will be a download version for either service here and what the differences might be if that happened.

I’m a little ignorant as to whether the Japanese downloads differed from the retail or were just another way to grab them to be honest. All I know is that it was a premium priced dsiware game, which is pretty rare.

Premium Priced? That IS rare. Only premium priced DSiware game so far is Thorium Wars and it hasn’t sold so good.

I almost forgot about this game! Thanks for bringing it up again.
