Shantae, In Trailer Form

Shantae
In keeping with my resolution to pay more attention to DSiWare and things full of awesome, you can catch WayForward’s trailer for Shantae: Risky’s Revenge after the break – which attempts to answer the question, “Remember when games looked really ridiculously fun?”

I would have loved it if the game was set for release on Wiiware insted of Dsiware just to see what they could do if they decided to approach the Wario Land: Shake It! graphics engine. Still, Shantae is something you don’t say no to.

I would have loved it if it was released as an actual game… with case/box and manual… so I could actually play it on my DS.

So Ujn, I take it you still don’t own either a DSi or a DSi XL? If you’re still using a Phat or a Lite, upgrading now would be the way to go… specially with Shantae around the corner and all the other great DSiware games already available.

Nope. I play DS games with my O.G. DS Phat. The DSi & DSi XL do not interest me in the slightest seeing they 1. took out the GBA slot in favor of Digital Downloads (which I have ZERO interest in…) that are useless if you upgrade 2. added 2 pointless cameras (which would only interest Japanese school girls* or very few gimmicky games).

I’m a collector so even if I could play the Digital Downloads on multiple systems they don’t interest me. I buy vinyl records/cds too if that helps you see how I feel about that. Also the whole “Episodic” thing really makes me steam under the hat… I want my games in nice complete packages. I want FINISHED products, not bite size nickle and dime dribbles of games that may never be complete.

      Sorry for the rant. :)

      * forgive me if you are not a Japanese school girl and the DSi’s cameras interest you.

I’m with you on the Vynil/CD front. Unless digital is the only way some music is released, an actual hard copy is better. I own a GBA SP and a GBA Micro so I’m set as far as the “No GBA SLOT” is concerned on the DSi. As for DSiware, so far I own almost 20 games so for me it has been worth it. Plus the DSi has better sound and the LCD screens can go brighter. I see the DSi XL and it does seem like I would like to own one eventually. GIFTED by someone, but still…

Half of the DSiware releases have been either ports or “episodic” releases of games past, but the other half (Art Style games, Glow Artisan, Viking Invasion, Escapee Go! and Mighty Flip Champs to name a few) are well worth the price of admission. To each it’s own, and opinions are always welcome.

    :)
