Nier has Shades, also Comics

Nier
Square-Enix has sent word that Cavia’s Nier isn’t just for breakfast gaming anymore. DC Comic’s WildStorm will be creating a three part comic, which will expectantly explore the backstory leading into the 360/PS3 title. You can catch a full shot of the cover included with the announcement here, and then join me in waiting to see what the results are between now and April 27 as the issues release at the game’s official site, as well as on XBLA and PSN.

The other Nier update today is a set of arts for the Shades, which included a rather large explanation on what exactly Shades are, but can be condensed into “dark and ghostly creatures you fight.” Shades come in different sizes by the way – small, medium, large, and giant.

I rather dig their style on paper, so here’s hoping there’s something worthwhile to be found in encountering their physical existence within the game when I finally get a chance to see if Nier is as important for Square-Enix as I’ve been anticipating.

Catch some Shades of Nier after the break.

Always love seeing Carlos D’Anda get more and more work since I love his style. As for the artstyle of the game itself it seems to be taking the experience in the right direction.
