Alan Wake got shown off at X10 yesterday of course, and more importantly got a release date of May 18, along with one of those giant Microsoft CE editions.

The write-ups I’ve read so far sound fairly familiar to what was shown at E3, where the game looked like a safe bet for an audience that wants some horror and suspense without the Silent Hill grade weirdness I enjoy – for the record I’ll take as much third-person drama as I can get either way.

My favorite Alan Wake press moment is still sitting down to watch Remedy show the game off at E3, where one eager journo asked what the delay had been about, only to have Remedy point out that they were a smaller studio, and had never actually given a specific date for the game. No one on either side of the question started crying or anything, but it was still kinda awkward.

So, just to recap, if you think it has taken a long time for the game to get here, shut up!
