Dark Void’s Retro Charm

Dark Void
Capcom offered up images comparing the sprites of Dark Void Zero to their big console brother’s character designs, which you can catch after the break.

Dark Void‘s atmosphere and setting lends itself quite naturally to some slick marketing opportunities, with retro style beyond the 8-bit. Having gotten my greedy hands on a promotional guide for the game, I found a page promoting the rocket pack, complete with a faux form to clip out and send away for a free helmet – I’m an all day sucker for this type of artwork.

Dark Void itself isn’t a great game, but if all it is known for is for giving us Dark Void Zero on DSiware, then it was a good job indeed…

Somewhere deep underground, Capcom’s accountants are not agreeing with you :D

Well, my investment in the franchise amounts to $5, so you might have a point there.

Eh… I was originally bummed this game was DSiWare only… (as I won’t ever succumb to the evil DSi with no GBA port & region-locking digital downloads that are system linked) However since the mention of garbage tie-ins to supposedly “popular” real life people (Tesla is not who I am talking about… Tesla was awesome…) I have no interest in this game anymore anyway… bleh.

You know… I can’t say that I am… however he wasn’t too bad in Whip It! so maybe I’m just being mean. :)

Once this game drops to $0.99 in the App Store, I’ll buy it for my iPhone, crap touch controls and all.
